TREATMENT FOR MIGRAINES

MyoCore chiropractic treatment is a solution for migraine patients looking for a non-invasive and drug-free option. After a thorough musculoskeletal evaluation in the office, we analyze and assess areas that could be contributing to the patient’s migraines.

Myofascial release of the neck muscles and those surrounding the head and face can help relax the pain felt and keep migraines from being “triggered.” In association with muscle tension, joint restrictions can develop and can be treated with chiropractic manipulative therapy. We have seen this treatment combination show excellent results.

Outside of the office, your chiropractor will recommend a healthy diet and lifestyle and work with you to self-manage triggering events that can start a migraine. Because every individual is different, your MyoCore team will find the right combination of treatments to fit your needs and goals of care best.

“Seeking care at MyoCore has greatly reduced the number of migraine days I have. I used to get them every week and they would last 2-3 days. Now I only have occasional migraines and I’m more aware of what I need to be doing to keep them from coming back.” – Jami L.

MIGRAINE FAQ

How does a migraine differ from a headache?

The common headaches that many people experience typically have mild to moderate pain and feel like a dull pressure in the head. They are not typically accompanied by other symptoms of migraine, like sensitivity to light, sensitivity to sound, nausea, vomiting, and aura.

What is an aura?

A migraine aura occurs before the onset of pain for some people with migraines. The most commonly recognized aura is a visual disturbance in which a person sees flashing lights or squiggly lines or has a blind spot. Other presentations of auras can include numbness, tingling or weakness on one side of your body, auditory or olfactory hallucinations, and a variety of other possible symptoms.

When should I seek professional help for my migraines?

If you have not received an official migraine diagnosis, you should see a health care professional. This will help you find the most effective treatment and rule out any other causes for your symptoms.
